Texas Mahjong

Texas Mahjong is the world’s first new mahjong game which is innovated by Gameplay Interactive (known as GPI). It’s a combination of Mahjong game and Texas Poker. Some of you might have known what Mahjong is while some may not have any idea of it. In order to get you to know the game, let’s start with a short summary of Mahjong.

Mahjong, also known as majiang, and numerous of variants, is a game that originated in China. It is very common to play in 4 players (in South Korea and Japan would be 3-player with some variations). The game is widely played throughout Eastern and South Eastern Asia. Also having a small followers in Western countries for its popularity. Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, calculation and involves a degree of chance.

Throughout decades, it is often hosted as tournaments by some of Asian and Western either modern or traditional game.
With the popularity of the game, GPI has invented the first ever Mahjong game to play in Texas Poker style. Does this sound interested to you?

Game Play:

Texas Mahjong can be played by 2 to 6 players in each hand. The game consists 3 suits as below.
1. Character Suit
2. Circle Suit
3. Joker tiles

 

Joker tile could be used to represent a substitution of any tiles.
Each player will begin with 7 tiles. In the game room, there will be ‘Dealer’, ‘Big Blind’ and ‘Small Blind’ which is as same as Texas Poker. In order to continue, a player needs to place a bet amount similar to the Big Blind or higher. Thereafter, the 8th tile will be drawn. The player has option to keep or discard. Except Joker tile which cannot be discarded.
To win, a player has to form the best combination of hand. Example of winning hands as following.
